Which time zone do Time-based tiers use?

Time-based tiers use your Shopify store time zone.

When you create or edit a Time-based campaign in Early Bird, each tier's start and end time is based on the time zone configured in your Shopify store settings. It is not based on the customer's location, the customer's browser time zone, or the time zone of the device you are using.

How it works

Early Bird reads your store time zone from Shopify and shows it in the campaign editor. For example, if your store time zone is (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada), a tier set to start at 09:00 starts at 9:00 AM US & Canada time.

At checkout, Shopify checks the current local time for your store. Early Bird then applies the tier whose time window is active at that moment.

Example

If your Shopify store time zone is America/New_York:

Tier 1: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Tier 2: 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Customers in California, London, or Singapore will all be matched to the same tier based on your store's New York time. The tier does not switch separately for each customer's local time zone.

Where to check or change your store time zone

You can check your Shopify store time zone in Shopify admin:

Settings -> General -> Store defaults ->Time zone

If you change your Shopify store time zone after publishing a campaign, review your Time-based campaign schedule and republish it if needed. This helps avoid a mismatch between the time you intended and the time Shopify uses at checkout.

Notes

1. Time-based tier windows should be continuous and should not overlap.

2. Scheduled or active campaigns lock dates, tiers, currency, and time zone. To change those fields, end the campaign or duplicate it, adjust the schedule, and publish again.

3. The final discount is always determined at checkout.
